Throughout, Hardy's voiceover commented on the day from the fictional perspective of her daughter. On September 1, 2022, Hardy uploaded a video to her TikTok account titled, "A day in the life of a gothic baby." The 31-second upload showed clips of Ever Moore in a black dress as she appeared to try to brush her hair, eat breakfast, take what was described as a "guitar lesson," and finally go to bed at the end of the day. In response, she began creating a satirical series called "Gothic Baby." She said, "I imagined the most ridiculous scenario of a gothic child living a completely dark existence as a way to respond sarcastically to the ignorant assumptions about our lifestyle." Hardy told Insider she received a number of comments on her videos, suggesting her "dark aesthetic" was damaging to her daughter, and implying the child "lived her life in complete darkness because of her charcoal-colored nursery." An on-screen caption read, "The Victorian Gothic Nursery." Three months later she posted a video showing her daughter Ever Moore, whom they sometimes call "Eevee," dressed in a black outfit, holding a black fortune cookie before having her hair brushed and a black bow placed in her hair.Ī comment beneath the post read, "I know you wanna be 'different' or 'a cool mom' but while a baby is growing they should be surrounded with lots of colors to help their brain grow." In a video posted on August 28, 2022, she appeared to show the room her daughter slept in, which included a large wooden crib, dark wall frames, and cobweb decorations. The design of her house was inspired by things she was fascinated with in her childhood, she told Insider, including the children's book "Angelina Ballerina," the stylistic choices in Disney movies like "Cinderella" and "Beauty and the Beast," and, "Yes, a bit of 'The Addams Family.'" Sitka spruce from a 1,000 year old tree was used for the soundboard, the action is CAD optimized to be responsive and balanced to precise tolerances, and all string termination points are of solid titanium which contribute to its brilliance and long sustain. The Model 275 Titanium was built to be a concerto piano and have power to sing over a full orchestra but still handle the most delicate passages with ease and clarity. With our detailed knowledge of acoustic pianos and recording methods plus complex scripting utilizing the UVI engine, we were able to create the officially licensed Ravenscroft 275 library that truly emulates the voice of the Ravenscroft 275 concert grand. A priority for Ravenscroft was finding the right team to sample their piano because of the expected level of accuracy and realism. VI Labs worked with Ravenscroft Pianos at every step of the process to sample their 275 Titanium and do tests so we captured the perfect tone that satisfied the virtual and acoustic instrument makers both. Spreeman to have his signature Ravenscroft voice captured for the most accurate 'simulator' possible. Spreeman had been seeing trends in how a large part of the piano world was becoming digital, and realistic sampling along with ever faster computers enable acoustic piano sounds to become easier to emulate. Each handmade Ravenscroft grand takes well over 1,000 hours to complete which is about four times that of a factory built piano, and each can be built specifically to a customer's requests or for a specific design or location. Spreeman formed Spreeman Piano Innovations to build the exclusive line of Ravenscroft Pianos, named after the composer. After working with renowned jazz pianist and composer Bob Ravenscroft on a custom performance piano built to satisfy Bob's highest demands and expressiveness, Mr. Ravenscroft Pianos are designed and built by Michael Spreeman at his company in Scottsdale, Arizona. If the usual piano tones have worn out their welcome and it's time for something fresh, the Ravenscroft 275 is here. Rich clear hammer attacks, unique Muted Strikes, staccato Release Trails, real sampled Una Corda pedal, and sampled Resonance all lead to a level of realism previously unobtainable in a virtual piano. Our goal was to emulate all aspects of the 275's detailed voice using the latest sampling technology and let this amazing piano speak with clarity. Both Du Rego and the supporting musicians possess a natural ability to play through each track with ease – not an easy task as audiences often want quick gratification – whilst never once appearing repetitive. When factoring in the average track time, these nine tracks will most likely take up most of the available space offered by a conventional compact disc. On paper, with just nine tracks, this is a short album. Only three of the nine numbers on this album clock in under five minutes in length, while others venture into almost Pink Floyd seven minute+ territory. As the tempo progresses through peaks and valleys during “Carry On,” it becomes abundantly clear that Black Suit Devil have no fears opting to not conform to ‘radio-friendly’ track times. That is, at least, up until around the two minute mark, upon which a temporary stoppage yields to some slower, soulful vocals, perfectly rounded out with the return of that gentle violin. If the up-tempo introduction to “Carry On” is not enough to convince you of a vast change of direction here, there is no denying that the vocals that follow mirror the sound and style of a well-known Creedence Clearwater Revival favorite. My intention here is to not simply find comparisons with his musical peers, but to articulate similar sounding musical influences from my past that Du Rego is conjuring up with this modern take on the classic slow-rock number.Īnd if I am leading you to believe that the track progression is pretty formulaic thus far, go ahead and quash those ideas at this time too. ![]() As “Fumble” fades, we not only welcome “Dreams,” but notice the vocals being a little more dominant, with some drawn out, bellowing lines that have a distinct rockier edge reminiscent to those earlier sounds from Jon Bon Jovi, White Lion and John Mellencamp. With his raw, emotional delivery and outpouring of his soul during “Fumble,” Du Rego demonstrates that he is worthy of being named in such good company. And from his opening lines, Du Rego offers me instant comparisons to the folk-roots elements of the likes of early Fogerty, Springsteen and even Young. Progressing to the second track, “Fumble,” the simple acoustic guitar returns to introduce the song, albeit with a much traditional folk-rock sound to set the tone. This opening number in particular has a wonderful additional dimension, thanks to the bluesy harmonies provided by Jules Cardoso, whose sound draws instant comparisons to the likes of Melissa Etheridge and Stevie Nicks. Don’t just take my word for it – go ahead and immerse yourself into the slow melodic instrumentation that precedes the opening track “Blind Man.” Part Latin, part blues, the opening acoustic guitar and roll of the piano keys lead you to that aforementioned violin and the gradual emergence of Du Rego’s distinct vocals. Add in some great lyrics and great musical arrangements (kudos to the soothing violin offered by Neil Cameron), and you are rewarded with nine tracks that hold your attention from the opening note to the closing call. With his atmospheric, if somewhat raspy, vocal delivery, Du Rego is difficult to ignore. Always happy to hear new music, the strength of this debut full-length album grabbed my attention the moment I heard the first vocal line delivered by singer/songwriter Andy Du Rego. When I naturally asked which artist had made their way to the upper echelons of the current listening pleasures, she introduced me to a Toronto based acoustic soul ensemble by the name of Black Suit Devil. On a recent road trip that saw Team GDW once again heading north to catch a live show in Southern Ontario, L took charge of the DJ duties and was incredibly eager to share some new tunes with me that she had just heard for a the first time. The Pale Kingīefore you get too excited, you should know that The Pale King is a real downer. But this is just the tip of the iceberg! So, it’s time to explain some of the lore behind this amazing title. Hollow Knight: Silksong is in development for PC, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.These bugs have taken over the kingdom and corrupted its inhabitants into mindless drones. For now, it remains to be seen who will be the real threat in Hollow Knight: Silksong. There are plenty of Silksong fan theories, and it could be the Spider Tribe's connection to the kingdom extends further than this creature, too. ![]() Such a creature has seemingly inspired both fear and reverence, with some writing poetry to forewarn others of the impending threat, to those like the Weavers who could be its followers. Whether the story will follow Hornet as she attempts to prevent this creature from awakening, or if she will be fighting others to prevent them from controlling it, the poem suggests this creature waking up will spell the end of Pharloom. With an abundance of connections between this creature, Herrah, and the Weavers, such as references to "the beast" and sleeping, it is possible that this new creature will be the game's main threat. ![]() The poem alludes to a creature or entity players will encounter in Silksong, something which has been sleeping either within or even below Pharloom for some time. The end of the poem in particular suggests a possible impending threat. As the Elegy for Hallownest laid out the first game's plot, it's likely that Pharloom's Folly is providing players an insight into the sequel's premise. Instead, it is within Pharloom's Folly that the game's real antagonist might be hinted. While players might see an expanded role for the Weavers in Silksong, they could still be secondary antagonists similar to how the Radiance was the true villain in Hollow Knight. Since Hornet is a hybrid between spider and wyrm, if in Silksong she is entering the home of Herrah, her abnormal abilities and impure bloodline might turn the Weavers against her. Based upon the game's announcement trailer, it's already been shown that she will have some kind of unusual powers. Given the close association of the Weavers to Herrah, and by extension Hornet, delving into Hollow Knight history could provide insight on Hornet's story and explore more about the skills or abilities she might have. In Hollow Knight's original code, the Weaver enemies were called "Spider Mages," alluding to a possible mysticism with their race that could carry over into Silksong. ![]() As such, it seems that Silksong will be exploring the lore behind the Spider Tribe given much of the new kingdom of Pharloom appears to center around the motifs of silk, weaving, and strings. Though the Weavers made a minor appearance in Hollow Knight, their role was cut back during development as Team Cherry worked to connect its various ideas for the game. RELATED: Hollow Knight: Silksong's New Crafting System Explained A Bigger Role For The Weavers Predicting the game's new antagonist and how it might involve Hornet could help prepare players the upcoming sequel - especially since Silksong is shaping up to be a significant departure from Hollow Knight. While Hornet winds up in Pharloom against her will, it isn't clear what story is unraveling there for her to discover. As players are set to revisit the world with Hollow Knight: Silksong, attention is turning to what new threat Hornet will face after successfully overcoming the infection.ĭespite several trailers and early gameplay footage, not much is known about Hollow Knight: Silksong's plot, nor its major threats. By the game's conclusion, not only would players understand where this infection originated, they were also able to effectively defeat it. One of the driving forces behind the events of Hollow Knight is the strange, encroaching infection that began taking over the land of Hallownest. I’m a portrait photographer and I need all the set to look as consistent as possible. I use it not for speed or ease, but for consistency. Sorry to come late to this conversation- I found it when I was looking for best profiles for Lomo CN. When it does that first 1:1 scan, it's going to scan that frame at the full DPI you've got selected- so if you're using 2400 DPI, it's going to scan that frame at 2400 DPI so you can adjust the USM- part of the reason why I primarily use just the SilverFast specific tools. If you are going to use some of the functions like USM, set the DPI to 300 first. I make very few adjustments while scanning- basically, iSRD, negafix, and histogram, and set the white point to the right end of the histogram, the black point to the left end, and leave the midpoint at 0 if possible. Once I'm happy with all the frames, I select batch scan from the File menu, put in my prefix, something like 'IMG_', check "Use Index", and "Remove Numbers", and set the index to "0001" or something equally cheesy. Now each frame has the same basic settings, and I can go through and set the border / histogram on each. Then under frames, I do a "copy to all frames". I keep the navigator window separate, and click on each detected frame.Īdjust the borders while it's scanning, set negafix parameters, and my final scan resolution, turn on iSRD, turn off sharpening. Then hit pre-scan, and then find all frames- but tell it what size negatives I'm using (6圆, for instance). Generally speaking, I load up my negatives, and first, clear all frames. I've got a v800, which is (I assume) much faster, so the re-scans aren't quite as annoying. Might just go back to using Epson Scan problem with that is they aren't porting it to 64bit so its incompatible with macOS Catalina now that 32bit support is dropped and Silver Fast is the only option recommended by Epson themselves. Too many times it wants to constantly re-scan the image while I am trying to make adjustmentsĪm I missing something here? Are people actually using this successfully? So far I have spent about 4-6 hours trying to mess with this software and have nothing to show for it. Still trying to figure out how to get the batch scan to work properly with all the frames, the auto-increment for filenames does not seem to want to work correctly Maybe the worst part, its not possible to output a 48bit TIFF with the color corrections done, the only 48 bit output you can get is some "raw" (not actually "raw") that has nothing done to it keep in mind the biggest draw of using Silver Fast is the NegaFix auto-correction for negatives, and you cant even use that if you are outputting 48bit files In particular, every time I even open the software and start using it, I immediately have problems Īfter I "Find All Frames", Silver Fast wants to re-scan each frame every time I select one to look at, which takes forverĮvery frame it finds is always off-centered by 5-10% or so, requiring that I go through each one and manually drag the frame box around ![]() Been using the stock Epson Scan software for a while with it, and while that software has issues (need to run a program to jiggle the mouse constantly while scanning, Auto-Adjust settings are always messed up and need tweaking.,etc) it at least makes it really easy to batch-scan my 35mm film negatives.Įveryone on YouTube film channels always seems to mention at some point how Silver Fast scanner software is so much better, and I have tried it several times, but it seems to be completely awful. ![]() The following factors are important differences between AVNRT and AVRT : In contradistinction to ORT resulting in NCTs, antidromic AVRT has anterograde conduction over the accessory pathway and retrograde conduction over the AV node-His bundle resulting in WCTs. In tachycardia, retrograde conduction over the accessory pathway is fast and yields a short RP tachycardia. This type is not apparent by analysis of the ECG during sinus rhythm because the ventricle is not pre-excited and the accessory pathway is said to be “concealed”. This pattern is also known as orthodromic reciprocating tachycardia (ORT). We have reviewed ECG findings of the NCTs and WCTs in order to reduce the possible diagnostic errors on the ECGs.ĪV reentrant tachycardia (AVRT) involves reentry between the atria and ventricles with use of the AV node-His bundle conduction as the anterograde and slow pathway and an accessory conduction as the retrograde and fast pathway. The accurate, rapid diagnosis in patients with these tachycardias still remains a significant clinical dilemma, because the published numerous ECG algorithms and criteria are complicated and difficult to recall in urgent clinical situations. Because administration of medications based on misdiagnosis of these tachycardias can be harmful and sometimes fatal, diagnosis of these tachycardias is critical. The WCTs can be VT or supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) with right or left bundle branch block (BBB) or right or left accessory pathway ( Table 1, ). The NCTs are typically of supraventricular origin above or within the His bundle, although rarely narrow complex ventricular tachycardias (VT) have been reported in the literature in which early activation of the His bundle can also occur in high septal VT, resulting in relatively narrow QRS complexes of 110–140 ms ( Table 1, ). Among these tachycardias with a heart rate greater than 100 beats per minute (bpm), the narrow QRS complex tachycardias (NCTs) are defined by the presence in a 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) of a QRS complex duration less than 120 ms and the wide QRS complex tachycardias (WCTs) are defined by the presence in a 12-lead ECG of a QRS complex duration more than 120 ms ( Figure 1). Although such tachycardias often occur in patients with a normal heart, they may cause bothersome symptoms and rarely represent life-threatening conditions. Differential diagnosis and treatment of tachycardias is a common dilemma encountered by physicians or cardiologists. ![]() The overall effect of the track is more of a Nu-jazz feel. Jon Hendricks Original music written by Antnio Carlos Jobim Original lyrics written by Newton Mendona Language English ISWC T-071.186. The approach to this Jobim classic is anything but traditional bossa nova: It starts off with a very funky double bass line over a syncopated, New Orleans style drum pattern, with two steel string guitars playing pads. This well-known song first reached a wide audience on the Grammy-winning bossa nova LP Jazz Samba (Getz/Byrd/Jobim), which reached the number one spot on the Billboard 200 in 1963. The song title refers to the main melody line, which at first consists of a long series of notes of a single tone played in a bossa nova rhythm. The Portuguese lyrics were penned by Newton Mendonça and the English ones were written by Jobim himself. This playful "Samba de Uma Nota Só" (One Note Samba) is one of my favourite tunes by Antônio Carlos Jobim. “This is just a little Samba, built upon a single note, other notes are bound to follow but the root is still that note.” |
